A New Junior Season Dawns

Registration evening is on Friday 5th April from 6.30 pm onwards. The registration forms are here:  Please bring a completed form and payment with you.

As a special offer for the evening, we can take orders for a Spofforth CC clothing deal consisting of a hoodie, cricket shirt and cap for £35. We can take sizes on the evening. The clothing looks like this:

Also we are looking for volunteers to staff the bar and the tuck shop on Fridays. Please let us know on 5th April what date(s) you can do. If we don’t get volunteers then we can’t open the bar or shop…

Following registration, we start outdoor coaching on Friday 12th April from 6.30.

This year the coaching arrangements are as follows:

Under 9s: Simon Giddings (Manager & Coach) assisted by Andrew Lurcuck and Mark Woodward

Under 11s: Jason Westerman (Manager & Coach) assisted by Paul Draper

Under 13s: Lucas Bateman (Manager), Ross Atkinson (Coach)

Under 15s: Paul Jackson (Manager & Coach) assisted by Jonny Moxon

Ross also has overarching responsibility for coaching at the club.

Depending on coaching availability, these arrangements may change occasionally and it is likely that we will have other coaches helping out. Which brings me to:

We need people to help with coaching. If you have ever fancied trying your hand at coaching or just simply helping then here is your opportunity. Ross, our club coach, is looking to organise an event one Saturday morning where you can have a go at coaching. Once I have the full details then I will let you know. Please give this some consideration. The next generation of cricketers need coaches.

Fund raising: we need money to enable us to provide cricket. Subscriptions covers costs but we always need more. If you have any ideas about fund raising then please feel free to share them. You may have noticed that there is a TV screen in the club house which carries information about the club as well as advertising (mainly) local businesses. If you know of any business which wishes to make use of this TV advertising then please let us know. The cost for an advert is £50 for the year and you will be re-imbursed £10 once payment has been made by the advertiser.

NatWest Cricket Force this year, this will take place on 6th April. Can you spare some time to help with jobs around the ground? It would be great if you can help to get the facilities ready for this season.

Finally, there is a trip to Theakstons Brewery on 16th April. A bus will be leaving the cricket club at 6.15, returning around 10.15. The trip includes seeing the brewing process, a hot supper and, of course, a sample of our sponsor’s famous brew. The price is just £5 (yes, just £5). Places are limited so please contact Steve Gill (e-mail chauffeur_gill@yahoo.com & mobile 07881 957365).

Look forward to seeing you all soon

Junior Chairman

NatWest Cricket Force Saturday 6th April 2013

cricketforce#NatWest CricketForce Day here at Spofforth will take place Saturday 6th April commencing at 9.00am.  Whilst once again there are no major projects planned there will be plenty to do to get the ground and facillities into shape for the start of the season.  We hope that as many of you as possible will be able to spare an hour or two during the course of the day to help – players both senior and junior, junior parents and friends will be most welcome.

You will be fed and watered throughout the day and your support will be greatly appreciated.  As last year we hope to have the support of staff and volunteers from NatWest to assist with the tasks.

For further information please contact either the Chairman, Steve Gill 07881 957395, the Secretary Sandra Gill, 07979 800962, or Nick Ross Clubhouse Manager on 07779 243829.
