Friday evening coaching will take place commencing Friday 11th April at 6.30pm and run every Friday with the exception of Good Friday (18th April) and Friday 4th July (Tour de France) until Friday 18th July 2014.

In addition to Friday evenings, given that the U17 group acts as a feeder to the club’s senior teams for those players who are ready to and want to make the step up, and with the agreement of Darren Kavanagh, 2nd XI captain, U17 players are welcome to join the senior nets each Tuesday evening.

PLEASE wrap up warm in the early part of the season and ensure that juniors wear suitable outdoor training footwear – canvas shoes etc. are not suitable. We can thoroughly recommend PC Sports hoodies, they are initialed too! Here is the link. http://www.pcsports.co.uk/brands/Spofforth-CC.html . If you have any questions about kit please do not hesitate to give me a ring – for whites you can’t beat Sports Direct they’re reasonably priced. One last word – please ensure your child’s kit is all clearly marked with their name as we inevitably have various items of lost property by the end of the season…

Nidderdale League Cricket
The U17 match format is up to 22 overs per side, full size pitch with adult hard ball played under normal standard cricket rules with 1 innings per side. League matches are on Thursday evenings starting on 1st May; we play 4 league matches before a league defined rest period during the main GCSE exams. The fixtures are here http://www.nidderdaleleague.co.uk/junior-fixtures.html .

As a club we will do our utmost to make sure that all the children develop in their cricket skills and have lots of fun along the way – but of course this cannot be done alone; you can never have too many friends so please do feel free to lend a hand in whatever way you can or wish, tuckshop, bar, drinks, admin, umpiring, scoring, coaching, tea and sympathy, and the list goes on; a beer tastes much better when you’ve given a hand.

We have a small squad again this year at U17 level so we are looking for more new U17 qualified players, so to those of you with friends who may be interested in joining us please spread the good word.

Finally we will communicate mainly by email but increasingly via the club website where you will find a host of useful information.

Here’s looking forward to another great season.
