Congrats to Studley Royal U7s

Well done to Studley Royal Under 7s who win this year’s Nidderdale Under 7s Tournament.

It is always a pleasure to host this tournament and this year was no different. What was different was the weather. It was actually quite warm and dry.

Nine teams took part – Spofforth, Ouseburn, Harrogate, Knaresborough, Follifoot, North Stainley, Pannal, Studley Royal and Ripley – playing over three groups to find 4 semi-finalists. The semi-finals were competed by Harrogate, Ouseburn, Studley and North Stainley. Studley beat Harrogate (267 v 190) and Ouseburn beat North Stainley following a nerve jangling bowl-off (the game tied at 251 each).

In the final, a strong Studley side beat a plucky, young Ouseburn side 259 to 216.

Well done to everyone who contributed to the day.

Junior Indoor Training – Amended Dates

Unfortunately, there will be no junior indoor training on Sunday 28th Feb and Sunday 6th March due to Boston Spa School requiring the sports hall for examinations. It would have been nice to have had earlier notice of this but I have only been informed of this today. I will try to book Sunday 27th March as an extra week for training.

Junior Indoor Training 2016

Junior indoor training for our juniors begins on Sunday 7th February at Boston Spa School Sports Hall. We will be running sessions until 20th March.

For players of age group Under 11 and below, the time will be 4pm – 5pm. For players older than Under 11, the time will be 5pm – 6pm. This year we are hoping to field teams up to and including Under 15 in the Nidderdale Junior Cricket League.

We welcome players old, new and returning and offer coaching with our ECB Level 2 coaches.

Congratulations to our Under 7s

On Sunday we hosted the Nidderdale League Under 7s Tournament. Ten teams from across the region – Spofforth Knights, Spofforth Squires, Pannal, Beckwithshaw, Ouseburn, Studley Royal, Masham, Follifoot, Ripley & North Stainley – competed for the shield last won by North Stainley. After a series of games, the semi-finalists were Spofforth Knights, Masham, Beckwithshaw and Ouseburn. In the first semi-final Masham (233) beat Ouseburn (220) and in the second our Knights (244) beat Beckwithshaw (234).

The final was a tense, low scoring affair with some very good bowling and fielding. The final scores were Masham 207 and Spofforth Knights 211 thus giving our Knights the trophy. This is a great testament to our coaches who work so hard and so enthusiastically with the players week in, week out.

It is fair to say that the weather made things a little bit challenging. However, with the determination of players, coaches, scorers and parents, we managed to get the competition completed. Massive thanks are due to everybody who helped on the day, whether it be serving tea, cooking burgers, soaking up the rain or simply providing encouragement to some quite cold and damp young cricketers.

Thank you to all who helped make the day a success.image
