Junior Training

Outdoor training for the 2018 junior season will begin on Friday 13th April at 6.30. This year we will be providing cricket for U7s, U9s, U11s, U13s and U15s. Everybody is welcome, whether you have played before or simply wish to give it a go. All our coaches are ECB qualified.

Besides the cricket, the bar will be open for the adults.

I hope you can join us.

Paid Work Available!

All clubs need a big supporting cast to make the cricket seamless and allow the teams to focus on and enjoy the sport. We need your help to fill some roles.

1) We need scorers. We have had the pleasure of some very dedicated and loyal people in this area but we need some new folk. Anyone can turn their hands to scoring with the brand new ECB scoring app on a phone or tablet. If you would like to get involved as a scorer please get in touch. Spend the day in the sun watching cricket in the best spots of God’s own country, Why wouldn’t you? Payments to be discussed. The post will require a DBS check which we will arrange.

2) The Bar Manager. Arguably the most important role in the club!. Every Saturday 5pm to about 11pm  throughout the summer & the occasional Wednesday + helping with organizing any events. Payment to be discussed.

3) The outfield at Spofforth has been long admired and to keep it as such we need someone to spend 3 hours each on a Tuesday and Thursday mowing the outfield. Again, there is payment which can be discussed.

If you have any questions please get in touch (Simon Giddings 07968 321535) but please ask your friends and family if you know someone who can help.

Junior Indoor Training

Junior indoor training will start on Sunday 4th Feb at Boston Spa School Sports Hall. The Under 7 and Under 9 age group will train from 4pm to 5pm and the Under 11s, Under 13s and Under 15s will be training from 5pm to 6pm.

This year we will be having teams playing in the league at Under 9 (pairs), Under 11 (pairs), Under 13 and Under 15. Please spread the word because we welcome all players, old and new.

New Players Needed for 2018

It’s no secret that most clubs are struggling to find players. We really need new players for the 2018 season. Currently we field one side on a Saturday in the Nidderdale Cricket league (next season we will be playing in Division 2) and a side on a Wednesday evening in the Harrogate Evening League. At the least we want this to continue and, in order for that to happen, we need players. So if you are someone who used to play and want to get playing again contact us. If you are already playing but fancy a change then contact us. Our facilities are second to none and you will be made very welcome.

Please contact either Dave Jackson on 07803 116028 or John Fawcett on 07900 923999.

Spofforth win Nidderdale U7s Tournament

This year we had 11 sides taking part with North Stainley, Spofforth, Ouseburn A, Ripley, Harrogate, Ouseburn B, Pannal A, Follifoot, Pannal B, Bilton and Knaresborough competing to win the shield won by Studley Royal in 2016. The sides were organised into 3 groups – Bairstow, Root and Rashid – with the two best winners of the groups playing in the final. After a great deal of competitive cricket, Spofforth, Harrogate and Knaresborough came top of their respective groups but the finalists were Spofforth and Harrogate who both achieved maximum points from their fixtures. In the final Spofforth batted first in front of a supportive crowd and posted a total of 244. Despite some good cricket, Harrogate could only end up with 228 which meant the shield went to Spofforth. However, all teams who took part can be proud of their efforts.

As always, the tournament was played in a great spirit and it was really pleasing to see everybody getting on so well and sharing a common love of the game. Many thanks to the volunteers who helped on the day and thanks again to Ken Coad and Mick Dawson for their support of junior cricket.

U7s 2017

Nidderdale U7s Tournament – Sunday June 11th

Once again we have the great pleasure of hosting the Nidderdale Junior Cricket League Under 7s Tournament. This year it takes place on Sunday June 11th and we are expecting over 10 sides to take part. In the past, it has been great fun with the Champions title being won by different clubs each year. Last year, it was Studley Royal but who will get their name on the Shield this year?

Besides the cricket, there will be refreshments for all the family.

We can’t guarantee the weather but we will guarantee that the cricket will be enjoyable.
